Bronx Green Building Walking Tour

Join GreenHomeNYC for a walking tour of exciting new sustainability developments in the South Bronx! The tours are an opportunity visit a varied collection of buildings to learn about energy efficient and sustainable building methods directly from building professionals such as the architect, engineer, developer or owner. You’ll experience firsthand the inner workings and design details, as well the challenges and accomplishments that were faced by the professionals involved with these commercial and residential buildings.
The South Bronx is redeveloping - and sustainability is the name of the game! Join GreenHomeNYC as we tour examples of cutting edge sustianability in two new construction affordable housing developments in the South Bronx - the recently completed Via Verde and the soon to be complete Forest House . Both buildings push the envelope for affordable housing in the city.

A community-oriented, volunteer-run organization, GreenHomeNYC’s mission is to facilitate the adoption of sustainable building methods and materials by owners of small residential and commercial buildings in New York City.
GreenHomeNYC aims to be a hub of resources for small building owners, to promote the understanding of green building issues, and to connect building owners with local green building service and materials providers.
GreenHomeNYC is also the New York City Chapter for the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), the nation’s leading regional membership organization focused on promoting the understanding, development, and adoption of energy conservation and non-polluting, renewable energy technologies.
